Careers360 has rated 37 top engineering colleges in Uttarakhand
under the categories of AAAA, AAA+, AAA, AA+, AA, A+, A and A-.
Careers360 has declared the list of top engineering colleges India for
2013 which contains 3217 engineering colleges across India out of
approximately 3600 engineering colleges in India.
Touted
as an upcoming education hub, Uttarakhand is home to the first ever
engineering college that came up in the country. The Thomason College of
Engineering, Roorkee set up in 1847 was the oldest civil engineering
institution in the country. The hilly state has 37 institutes with a
total sanctioned intake of over 13,000 excluding some of the better
known institutes such as IIT Roorkee (1159 seats), NIT Uttarakhand (120)
among others. The popular disciplines in terms of students studying at
different colleges are Mechanical, ECE, CSE and Civil. The top four
disciplines account for 70% of the total BE/B.Tech seats in the state.
Among non-conventional courses, one could opt for Applied Electronics
& Instrumentation, Automobile, Petroleum, Biotechnology, Chemical,
Biomedical and Agriculture Engineering.
